Ruth Nasrullah is a freelance journalist based in Houston. Over the past 16 years she has covered a range of subjects, with religion and politics being chief among them. She took a brief break from journalism in 2014 to serve as communications lead for a civil rights organization, and upon returning has increasingly focused on nature and outdoor activities. She has written for American Muslim Today, Azizah, eMerge, the Houston Chronicle, Islamic Horizons, MuslimMatters, Religion News Service, Texas Parks and Wildlife, The Lily, The Trek, and Toastmaster. She gave a more intensive version of her talk on writing about religion at the Writers Colony at Dairy Hollow in early 2020. It is based in part on a craft paper she wrote while pursuing her MFA. Ruth has a master's degree in journalism from Emerson College and a Master of Fine Arts in creative nonfiction from Goucher College. More at www.ruthnasrullah.com .
