Mathina Calliope



Mathina's writing has appeared in Longreads, Cagibi, Outside, Deep Wild, the Rumpus, the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, NPR, the Brevity blog, and elsewhere.

A former newspaper reporter, she has nearly 20 years’ experience teaching writing to students ages 9 to 89. She has studied at Goucher College (MFA in CNF), the Yale Writers' Workshop, Bread Loaf, and elsewhere.

She lives in Northern Virginia, where her work in progress is a memoir interrogating the relationships among nature, depression, infertility, and the mother wound.
